Course description
This Paediatric First Aid Two Day training course is designed for Child minders, Nannies, Playgroup personnel and anyone whose profession involves the care of infants and young children. First aid training courses accredited with various Councils. Delivered using the new 2025 guidelines.
Who is the paediatric first aid course suitable for?
This 12 hour plus breaks (2 day) paediatric first aid course complies with Ofsted National Standards relating to First Aid for people working with children and infants and Sure Start requirements for the Department for Education, Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS).
What you will learn on the paediatric first aid course
The paediatric first aid training involves the theory required and practical exercises using infant and child size manikins and covers how to deal with emergency situations involving children and infants.

Training Day 1

- Set Up and Barriers
- Initial Assessment (Using the BBB approach)
- Unconscious casualty and Recovery position (DRCABCDE approach)
- Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (2025 Guidelines)
- Choking Management
- Illness Assessment
- Respiratory Problems
- asthma, croup, epiglottis
- Allergic Reactions and use of Epipens and NEFFY spray
- Meningitis
- Sickle Cell Anaemia
- Seizures
- Diabetes
Training Day 2
- Revision and Practical Assessment
- Contents of First Aid Kits and Accident Reporting
- Control of Bleeding (Including catastrophic bleeding)
- Shock Management
- Injury Assessment
- Spine and Head Injuries
- Fractures and Dislocations
- Eyes, Ears, Nose Problems
- Burns including electric shock
- Poisoning
- Exposure to Cold and Heat
- Minor Injuries
- Theory Assessment
After completing a final assessment on the paediatric first aid course, successful candidates receive a recognised first aid certificate valid for three years.

2 days (6 hours per day plus breaks)
